In a recent drilling campaign, the target well was located in the Su-5 Block, Wushen Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The formation presented multiple hard interbeds with poor drillability and localized coal seams, resulting in significant drilling challenges. Upon receiving the assignment, Liuhe Greatness’ drilling engineering team reviewed offset well data and developed a dedicated RSS-based drilling program for this well. Instead of the conventional BHA design with standard tools, the team adopted a strategy featuring a rotary steerable system enabled with cross-motor communication.

1.Cross-motor communication and third-party motor compatibility.
Breakthrough achievement of 15-meter Cross-motor communication, directly compatible with third-party motors, eliminating the need for additional procurement of a dedicated motor.
The tool length from the motor to the drill bit has been optimized to 8.8 meters. The design enhances the safety and operational efficiency of the overall bottom hole assembly.
2.Self-developed domestic MWD, low-cost and reliable.
- Liuhe Greatness's independently developed MWD system ensures reliable data and stable signals in complex formations, significantly reducing technical service costs compared to imported equipment.
3.Powerful and efficient.
The iCruise CX RSS head can withstand high rotational speeds of 180 - 190 rpm, improving ROP by 30% in abrasive formations, boosting drilling efficiency, shortening operation cycles, and cutting overall drilling costs.

During the operation, Liuhe Greatness’s remote operation support center monitored the entire process in real time. On-site technical staff strictly implemented the operation plan with meticulous organization, careful operation, and scientific drilling practices. As a result, the operation achieved the shortest time for the same interval (5.4 days for 530–2,751 m), a 30% increase in mechanical ROP, and the longest single-run footage of 2,221 m, saving 1.1 days compared to offset wells. The stable inclination section cruise drilling trajectory control was precise, earning high recognition from the customer.
